06 May How user adoption made a difference for UBM
When a global events and publishing group moved its 400 London head office staff, it was more than an office move.
In one weekend, UBM transitioned from a traditional office of pens and paper, a desk for everyone and insufficient, poorly equipped meeting rooms to a state-of-the-art agile working culture.
The new culture relies on communication and collaboration technologies, with interactive touch screen desk booking stations, online room booking and a whole array of different collaborative spaces packed with video conferencing, interactive touch and room control.
It could have been a nightmare with intimidated staff faced with seven floors of unfamiliar technology and an IT support team struggling to cope with demand.
But UBM’s successful came from a year long change management plan to implement their business transformation, in which driving user adoption was an essential part.
Instrui founder and director Pip Thomas was the lead user adoption consultant on the project: “Three months of discovery, user engagement, interactive technology familiarisation and training created not only a great buzz, it ensured staff were prepared and motivated to explore and engage with the technology from day one.”
